Today is the birthday of the living legend of the country’s film industry Shabnam. She will pass the whole day at her own residence in the city's Gulshan area.
While sharing her feelings to celebrate her birthday Shabnam told this correspondent, “It is universal truth that a birthday comes to increase age. I am now getting older day by day. I am realizing this fact. To survive in this world, we all have to fight everyday.”
Shabnam has established herself as an internationally recognised heroine. To perform in Pakistani movies, she received Nigar Award, national award of Pakistan, 11 times.
After retiring from Pakistani film industry she permanently settled in Dhaka in 1998. She lastly performed in movie “Aammajaan” in Dhaka’s film industry. She has performed in role of late hero Manna's mother in this movie.
In Bangladesh, she got lifetime achievement award given by CJFB five years ago. In last July, she also received such award from Film Club.
Shabnam acted mentionable movies of Dhaka’s film industry are “Kokhono Aseni,” “Harano Din,” “Chanda,” “Talash,” “Nach-er Putul,” “Shorto,” “Sondhi,” “Sohodhormini,” “Jogajog,” “July,” “Boshira,” among others. Her performances in those movies are still being attracted to the viewers.
